Arm Balancing Workshop w/ KK

  • Awhi Yoga & Wellbeing Level 2, 15 Johnston Street Wellington New Zealand (map)

DETAILS

In this workshop, Kathleen will guide you through an opening vinyasa sequence, and then walk you through the basics of setting yourself up for a few of her favourite arm balances. The kaupapa of this workshop is about using asana to stay focused and self-regulated in challenging moments; in other words, we learn how to use arm balances as a means to that end - not as the end goal itself!

We use arm balances functionally: to build strength and length in the body, while learning the postural elements of a pose and their connection to other asana. But more importantly, we practice arm balances to hone our ability to pay attention to what’s happening with the body as it’s happening —bringing the body, breath and mind into focus, which has greater value to our overall haurora (wellbeing) than putting ourselves into fancy shapes!

Who is this workshop for?

The workshop is a safe space suitable for ALL levels of practice to experiment with a few arm balancing asanas. There's no requirement to DO THE POSE - just to be open and willing to challenge yourself and most of all, have a good time!

This workshop will also be useful for yoga teachers who want to upskill on sequencing and/or learn more about the relationship between foundational postures and arm balances.
