Module 1: Foundations of Yin Yoga (50 hours)

AWHI Yoga & Wellbeing’s 50/100 hour Yin Yoga Teacher Training programme is a comprehensive and thorough journey to becoming a Yin Yoga Teacher. Our Foundations of Yin Yoga course is a 50-hour training that enables you to teach Yin Yoga (if that’s your goal) and will otherwise deepen your knowledge and practice of Yin.

Course Information

Our first module provides the foundational training required to become a qualified Yin Yoga instructor, but is also open to any student who desires to deepen their yoga practice.

The 2025 course consists of two consecutive weekends for a total of six days - Feb 28th-Mar 2nd & March 7th-9th from 8am-6pm at AWHI Yoga & Wellbeing studio in the Wellington CBD.

Over these 50 hours, our Foundations of Yin Teacher Training covers:

  • Yin Yoga anatomy

  • Connective tissue/fascia

  • Chakra & Meridian Theories

  • Teaching and Sequencing Methods

  • Yoga Philosophy

Each day includes a vinyasa and yin yoga practice so that we can begin to explore the different approaches to asana (poses) in our own bodies. The rest of our time together consists of lectures, demonstrations, discussion and practice teaching. There is a 1-hour lunch break every day, and short breaks for morning/afternoon tea.

Course Requirements

Module 1 Prerequisites:  NONE! You do not need to have any prior yoga training or be a CYT to enrol in our Module 1 training.

To read more about our combined 100-hour training, visit our Yin Yoga Teacher Training homepage, or email kathleen@awhiyoga.co.nz for details!

Diversity & Inclusion Scholarship

At AWHI Yoga, we aim to create a supportive community that celebrates and values diversity and belonging. We are proudly committed to diversifying yoga as a practice through our honouring of Te Ao Māori, and by creating an inclusive studio environment where all voices, bodies and identities are represented, supported and ‘awhi’d’. As part of this commitment, we proudly offer a full diversity and inclusion scholarship for our 100 hour YIN Yoga Teacher Training for Māori, Pasifika, BIPOC, LGBTQ+ and other underrepresented groups within the yoga space.

The recipient of this scholarship will receive 100% tuition funding (or reimbursement of any funds already paid) to our 100 Hour Yoga Teacher Training programme, which includes course training at our Wellington studio, all required textbooks, AWHI manual, unlimited yoga at AWHI for the duration of teacher training AND a lifetime discount on all memberships and class passes at AWHI. The scholarship does not include travel reimbursement, accommodation or other costs of living that might be incurred over training dates.
