Mā tō hā, tō mauri e tau ai
From your breath, may your energy be settled
Guided gently by Jase Te Patu (Ngāti Apa, Ngāti Ruanui, Ngāti Tūwharetoa), this is more than a meditation—it’s a sacred return to self. Under the rising of Matariki, we honour Hiwa-i-te-rangi, the star of dreams and intentions. Through breathwork, you’ll be invited to relax, soften, and plant the seeds of your wishes for the year ahead.
As your body settles and your wairua reconnects, be serenaded by the soulful sounds of taonga puoro, played by Te Kahureremoa Taumata (Ngāti Kahungunu, Ngāti Tūwharetoa). Take a moment to pause, breathe, and listen deeply. This is your space to reflect, reset, and remember the power of your breath beneath the stars.

About the Facilitators
Jase Te Patu (Ngāti Apa, Ngāti Ruanui, Ngāti Tūwharetoa) doesn’t just talk about mental health—he’s lived it, walked it, breathed through it, and now teaches it in a way that genuinely connects. A Mental Health First Aid Trainer of Trainers and ex-co-owner of Awhi Yoga, Jase is also an international keynote speaker, TED Talker, and Edmund Hillary Fellow. But what strikes different is how grounded and real he is.
With over 30 years in the game, Jase leads Hauora Aotearoa—a kaupapa rooted in mātauranga Māori- created to uplift rangatahi to live, learn, and lead well. His sessions aren’t just kōrero—they’re packed with practical tools, real talk, and solid strategies to help us through the tough stuff.
He’s part performer, part wellbeing rangatira, and all heart. Jase shows up fully—barefoot on the whenua, guided by his tūpuna—and constantly reminds us: your breath is your power.
