Introduction to Kundalini Yoga with Satvika Iyer

In this workshop you will be introduced to the tradition of Kundalini Yoga through the practice of Kriya Kundalini Pranayama. This kriya series consists of five/six seated asanas done in repetition, mostly involving spinal movements targeting the center of each chakra for Shakti awakening. There's a small break in between each set of movements to let the breath return to normal, and to allow for observation. You may wish to write down your experience, so a journal and pen is recommended. The sequence ends with a meditation in a relaxing asana series.

There are 7 major energy centres in your body, also known as Chakras…and this workshop is your invitation to experience your chakras. Introducing this ancient Yogic science in a traditional way, this program aims to bring balance and harmony in the body, mind, intellect, and life. This is a gateway to realising your True Self, the Bliss.

Who is this workshop for?

All levels of experience are welcome. Not suggested for those currently pregnant or recently having undergone surgery.

What to bring

Kindly allow at least 3 hour gap between your meals and the start of practice. Bring an open mind, comfortable clothes, a journal + pen, and your own yoga mat if you prefer (yoga mats are also available at the studio).

About the facilitator

Satvika Iyer (they/them) is delighted to offer this workshop for their community in Pōneke. Satvika has completed 200hr YTT certification at AWHI in Vinyasa yoga, and will soon be completing a 400hr Yoga Wellness Instructor course which covers Hatha Yoga, philosophy, meditation and pranayama. They have also completed meditation teacher training (Kundalini yoga) with Dr. Omanand Guruji in India under the Guru-Shishya tradition. With a focus on stilling the mind through intentional breath and flowing movement, Satvika’s classes are an inclusive space where you can feel comfortable in your truth.
